Obligatory post about corn

So corn is kind of a big deal if you didn't know. Especially if you're a Huenefeld. And putting up sweet corn is an even bigger deal. One that takes the whole family, extended family, and many good friends.

I finally had the chance to get in on the annual event and it was a blast! We spent some really great quality time with friends and family and now have a freezer FULL of corn to last us the year (If not longer!!!)

Since what I'm pretty sure was the beginning of time Caden's family has been putting up sweet corn. Over all of those years they seem to have perfected the practice and now have it down to an art. My family used to put up corn as well, but it was nothing compared to this! These people definitely know what they are doing and I was happy to be their newest pupil!
Chopping off the ends
Boiling the corn, husks and all
Cooling the corn
Cleaning the corn
Cooling some more in two huge tubs
Handy little homeade machine that takes
the corn off the cob at 24 epm
thats (ears per minute for you non corn people)
Isn't he just the cutest?!
I think Sam ate as much corn as we put up!
And he definitely enjoyed the mud
Putting it all in bags
After putting up 350 gallons of corn over 6 long days (of only a few of which I actually helped) we were finally done!
